2012-2013 Shakespeare Class
Our curtain call from our final production last year, Much Ado About Nothing
2012-2013
Shakespeare Class
Shakespeare
Class is a full year elective, designed to give students exposure to one of the world’s greatest creative literary
geniuses. A major goal of the course is
to familiarize students with Shakespearean drama, appreciate, understand, and
fall in love with Shakespeare’s art. It
is an interactive course full of good times and adventure as we explore
some of the greatest literary works of all time.
Class will run on Fridays
from 2pm - 4pm at Forestdale Baptist Church beginning with Term I on September
14th, 2012.
No class will be
held on November 23rd, December 21st, 28th or
January 4th.
The class is open
to all, 6th grade through high school. Everyone must be willing to participate fully
in the class both in reading, discussion and acting.
Class fee for
participation is $25 per family, per term. If you have more than one teen
participating, however, please add another $5 per participant for book fees. The sooner you can get that to me the better
so that I can order our books.
I believe I am
settled on the plays we will be studying, however, I am not quiet certain what
play/plays we will be doing a production from.
We will be studying
some of Shakespeare’s histories this year, Richard the II, Henry the IV and
Henry the V as well as As You Like It and The Tempest. We managed to get through 4 last year, I am
confident we can get through studying 5 this year.
There will be a few
more film versions in store as well, including some of the BBC Shakespeare
Unlocked analyses of the plays.
Richard the II
Henry the IV
Henry the V
The Tempest 2010
with Helen Mirrin
As You Like It
We will be needing
2 hour blocks of time for each of these separate from the class. We will be viewing them at my home in East Falmouth, really not that far folks, or in Marstons
Mills or both depending on what can be worked out.
