2012-2013 Shakespeare Class

Our curtain call from our final production last year, Much Ado About Nothing

2012-2013 Shakespeare Class
Shakespeare Class is a full year elective, designed to give students exposure to  one of the world’s greatest creative literary geniuses. A major goal of the course is to familiarize students with Shakespearean drama, appreciate, understand, and fall in love with Shakespeare’s art.   It is an interactive course full of good times and adventure as we explore some of the greatest literary works of all time.

Class will run on Fridays from  2pm - 4pm at Forestdale Baptist Church beginning with Term I on September 14th, 2012.
No class will be held on November 23rd, December 21st, 28th or January 4th.

The class is open to all, 6th grade through high school.  Everyone must be willing to participate fully in the class both in reading, discussion and acting.

Class fee for participation is $25 per family, per term.  If you have more than one teen participating, however, please add another $5 per participant for book fees.  The sooner you can get that to me the better so that I can order our books.

I believe I am settled on the plays we will be studying, however, I am not quiet certain what play/plays we will be doing a production from.
We will be studying some of Shakespeare’s histories this year, Richard the II, Henry the IV and Henry the V as well as As You Like It and The Tempest.  We managed to get through 4 last year, I am confident we can get through studying 5 this year.

There will be a few more film versions in store as well, including some of the BBC Shakespeare Unlocked analyses of the plays.
Richard the II
Henry the IV
Henry the V
The Tempest 2010 with Helen Mirrin
As You Like It
We will be needing 2 hour blocks of time for each of these separate from the class.  We will be viewing them at my home in East Falmouth, really not that far folks, or in Marstons Mills or both depending on what can be worked out.

Feel free to call or email with any questions miklizro at gmail dot com

Does your teen like Shakespeare?

MaryEllen Oliver's Shakespeare class has been a huge hit this year.
We are going to finish out with the study and production of......
 Much Ado About Nothing.
She would love to have some more people join us for this last portion of the class.  All kids age 13 and up are welcome!  Show up at the next class or email MaryEllen for more details.  planetcatbooks at yahoo dot com
Classes are 1-3 on Wednesdays at Forestdale Baptist Church.  The class is $25 per student with a $50 cap per family.
This time, we will be doing the entire play, so students will each have their own book to keep, instead of using a printed-on-paper script. Each student will need to bring said book back and forth from home (to learn lines) to each class (to rehearse). We will be adding some extra rehearsals as the production nears.
The performance looks like it will take place during the week of May 26 to June 2, will firm up soon.
NO class the week of April vacation.

Book Sale

My friends, I have been homeschooling 10 years and have accumulated a ton of curricula and resources for K-high school and it is time, time,  time for me to clear the shelves.

On Saturday, March 10th, I will be having a sale.

From 10am to 3:00 at my home.
120 Fresh Pond Road, East Falmouth, Ma

For the sake of ease, I am making a (huge) free table, a $1 table, a $5 table a $10 table and a $20 table.
There will be a ton of stuff on each.
I am doing it this way because to price each piece and cart it about and back disheartens me no end.

Please note, the free table will have a great many of things donated by other homeschoolers at the end of the PACE curriculum sales to bless other homeschooler with.  That was their intended purpose and will be there as such.

Feel free to let me know if there is something you are looking for specifically and I can put it aside for you if I have it and it is one of the items going.

Blessings,
Lizzie
